Galaxy S II 4G in Canada at Virgin Mobile Too

Canadian wireless carrier Virgin Mobile has also joined the Samsung Galaxy S II launch party, the company announced on Wednesday, confirming that its users will soon have the possibility to purchase the Galaxy S II 4G smartphone on its airwaves.

The high-end Android-based mobile phone was announced as being on its way to the market in Canada on the airwaves of two other carriers as well, namely Bell and SaskTel, and it seems that the third one will have it on shelves as well.

The same as Bell's model, Virgin Mobile will launch the mobile phone with support for 4G networks, in addition to 3G, WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity options, or built-in GPS receiver. The smartphone comes with support for data transfer speeds at 21 megabits per second on 4G networks,.

The wireless carrier announced plans to add the mobile phone to its offering later during summer, but did not offer specific info on the release date or pricing as of now.

“This is about bringing a whole new level of smartphone technology to our Members,” Robert Blumenthal, president, Virgin Mobile Canada, commented on the launch.

“It's going to mean instant gratification for games, social networking, news, music, Mobile TV - anything and everything you do on a smartphone - and making it happen faster. All this wrapped up in a slimmer, sleeker package.”

Samsung GALAXY S II 4G will arrive at Virgin Mobile with the latest version of Google's mobile operating system, which will go hand in hand with a dual-core application processor with each core clocked in at 1.2GHz.

The smartphone also offers support for 1080p full HD recording and playback, as it was packed with an 8-megapixel photo snapper on the back, with built-in LED flash and auto focus. It also sports a front-facing camera for video calling.

On the front, a large 4.3-inch touchscreen display will provide users with a great viewing experience while on the go. It can display high-quality photos and videos, not to mention that Internet browsing will be enhanced as well.

The upcoming Samsung GALAXY S II 4G also sports 16GB of internal memory, as well as a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 32GB of additional storage space.

“People kept telling us how much they love all the multimedia features of the Galaxy S, so this time around we decided to take that multimedia experience to a higher level,” said Paul Brannen, vice president of Samsung Mobile Canada.

“This sets a new standard - a new standard that we will supersede with another new standard. That's what we do and that's what you can come to expect from Samsung.”
