TELUS Plans for Upgrading Android, BlackBerry and Windows Phones Unveiled

more info on the carrier's plans for releasing software updates for various devices available on its airwaves, and the latest reports on the matter seem set to shed some light on this.

The guys over at MobileSyrup managed to get their hands on the wireless carrier's roadmap regarding the various updates that should be pushed for the company's Android, BlackBerry and Windows Phone 7 users.

Among the most interesting pieces of information that can be extracted from there, we can count the fact that the HTC Desire and HTC Desire HD are set to receive an upgrade to Android 2.3 Gingerbread this spring.

HTC already announced that it would make the software update available for its Android 2.2 Froyo devices soon, and it seems that TELUS might be among the first wireless carriers to push the update to their users.

Some other Android updates the carrier plans would include:

- Shine Plus: early this winter – Android 2.2 –> Actually going to Gingerbread directly and skipping Froyo, should be launching early summer
- Milestone : this winter – Android 2.2 –> just finished testing and should be on its way very soon. Early spring
- Apollo: this winter – Android 2.2 –> launching not too far into this spring

When it comes to BlackBerry devices on TELUS' network, the BlackBerry Pearl 9100 should be upgraded to BB 6.0 in the next few weeks, or in early Spring.

The BlackBerry Curve 3G and BlackBerry Bold 9700 smartphones already received the software update on the carrier's airwaves.

In addition to these updates, the carrier also plans upgrading the HTC Surround 7 and LG Optimus 7 Windows Phone 7 devices to newer software in the next few weeks.

This would be the very same NoDo update that Microsoft said not too long ago that it would push out to users in late March, and it does not come too much as a surprise that TELUS too would make it available for its customers.
