T-Mobile's HTC HD7 Gets NoDo (Copy&Paste) Update

That didn't take long. One week after Microsoft started to send out the NoDo software update to the unlocked Windows Phone 7 devices out there, wireless carrier T-Mobile USA has made the upgrade available for its HTC HD7 customers as well.

According to the mobile phone carrier, HD7 would receive the new update in two phases, as software version 7.0.7008.0 at first, followed by version 7.0.7390.0 immediately after.

“Beginning March 29, 2011, HD7 users will start to receive a pop notification on their HTC HD7 device, informing them that a software update is available,” the carrier announced via its support forum.

As stated above, this is a two-part update. Although users would be notified on their HTC HD7 devices on the availability of the software, the update process would have to be performed via a desktop computer, using the Zune software.

T-Mobile notes that each part of the update would take around 20-50 minutes to complete. However, it would depend on the Internet connection speed, as well as on the amount of data present on the device.

During the process, Zune would backup all data on the handset, and would restore the files as soon as the update process is completed.

The release notes for the new update for HTC HD7 include:

Version 7.0.7008.0
This update was released on March 29 and is the first of a two-part update. The update includes the following:
- Updates the device registry, which is required to complete the second part of the two-part update.

Version 7.0.7390.0
This update was released on March 29 and is the second of a two-part update. The update includes the following:
- Adds the ability to copy and paste text.
- Stops unnecessary data connectivity and lowers data usage while using Yahoo! Mail.
- Improved Marketplace search
- While connected to Wi-Fi, customers will now see different background images in the Search screen.

Before proceeding, users should head to T-Mobile's support website here to learn more on the update process, so as to make sure they perform each step of the process as they should.
