Mass Effect 2 is set to get its last piece of downloadable content today, in the form of Arrival, which will connect the events from the second game to the upcoming Mass Effect 3 title, set to appear at the end of the year.
Mass Effect 2 was one of last year's most successful games, managing to win an array of awards and was backed up by a serious downloadable content strategy from its developer, BioWare.
Now, as people are getting ready for the release of Mass Effect 3, the Canadian studio decided to launch one last piece of DLC for the second game, in order to connect its events to the third one.
This DLC is called Arrival and is scheduled to appear today for the PC and Xbox 360 around the world, as well as for the PlayStation 3 owners in North America, and tomorrow for PS3 owners in Europe and the rest of the world.
Ahead of Arrival's release, BioWare has now posted a trailer for it, detailing some of the adventures the hero of the Mass Effect saga, Commander Shepard, will go through.
In the video below, courtesy of IGN, you'll see what we already knew: a scientist has uncovered evidence that proves that an invasion of Reapers is being assembled.
Reapers, in case you're not familiar with the Mass Effect saga, are a race of sentient ships that periodically wipe out every trace of civilization on the galaxy and now have a particular grudge against Shepard, who foiled their plans both in the first and second games.
In the Arrival DLC, Shepard is tasked with rescuing the scientist and trying to prevent the arrival of the Reaper invasion that is set to happen in 2 days.
According to a BioWare representative, Arrival will put a heavier emphasis on stealth, but, as you can see in the footage below, firefights will also be quite common in the DLC.
The Arrival DLC for Mass Effect 2 is out today, as a digital download on the PC (560 BioWare Points), PlayStation Store ($7) and Xbox Live Marketplace (560 MS Points).
Until the DLC is available, check out the trailer below.
