JBL Sticks to the Original iPad With the OnBeat Loudspeaker Dock

JBL's experience in the field of audio solutions (including here docking stations for iOS devices) is unquestionable, and it seems that the company's now back with yet another very interesting product of this type, namely the JBL OnBeat docking loudspeaker.

Right from the start, we'll have to point out that this thing will work with virtually any Apple product out there (from the iPad to the iPod classic), but, from some unknown reason, the manufacturer doesn't mention anything about iPad 2 support, which is sort of strange, given the huge popularity enjoyed by the second coming of Apple's tablet.

Anyway, coming back to the OnBeat, it's important to mention that the device comes equipped with dual Phoenix full-range transducers with computer-optimized DSP equalization, and is capable of delivering a 2 x 7.5 watts power output, with amplification, as well as a 70Hz – 20kHz frequency range and 83dB signal-to-noise ratio.

As expected, the device from JBL also packs plenty of connectivity options, including here a 3.5mm input that allows users to hook up virtually any player with an audio output to the speaker system, as well as a composite video output that can be used for connects to TV for big-screen viewing.

Plus, in order to provide a higher level of comfort during use, the dock is accompanied by an IR remote capable of controlling system functions and navigating iOS menus from up to 4.6m away.

Last, but certainly not least, it's also interesting to mention that this thing shouldn't take too much space around the house, given the fact that it measures 5-3/4 x 10-13/16 x 5-5/16 inches and weighs around 0.88kg.

The JBL OnBeat docking loudspeaker is available on multiple markets and sells for around 150 pounds sterling (240 US dollars), a fairly affordable price point, especially if we take into account all of the specific features and functions this thing is capable of providing.
