- GIMP 2.8.0 is here, for Windows, Mac and Linux
But it's only with the stable release that Gimp 2.8.0 is ready for production use. There are plenty of new features,
but a couple stand out. The first is the single window mode which, as
the name suggests, enables users to have the canvas as well as the tool
dialogues all in the same place, reducing desktop clutter.
The second is better though not complete support for GEGL, a new
graphics library that adds hardware acceleration as well as plenty of
other improvements over the technology Gimp has used so far.
