Sony, Warner Bros. and Paramount Interested in Need for Speed Movie

A report suggests that video game publisher Electronic Arts is already talking to a number of important studios about developing and launching a Need for Speed movie, with Sony, Paramount and Warner Bros. currently ready to bid on the project.

John Gatins, who is best known for producing Real Steel, Dreamer and Flight, is the man handling the pitch for the movie and he is also expected to write the screenplay once a studio is attached.

A seven figure sum is expected to be offered for the Need for Speed movie, which has been compared in terms of potential with the Fast and the Furious franchise.

The most recent Need for Speed video game was The Run, which aimed to blend the racing with Quick Time Events and a strong narrative.

The Run could have been the Driver of video games but it offered from poor execution and from a lack of content to keep players occupying.

It’s not yet clear what the narrative of a Need for Speed movie might be.
