Today, mobile phone carrier Verizon Wireless announced the upcoming availability of two new tablet PCs on its airwaves, namely the DROID XYBOARD 8.2 and 10.1, both of which should hit shelves before the end of December.
Both of the new tablet PCs arrive on shelves with dual-core 1.2 GHz processors packed inside, along with 1 GB of RAM for increased performance capabilities, and Corning Gorilla Glass for increased screen durability.
The two devices come to shelves with MotoCast, which should deliver remote access to DRM-protected music, pictures, videos and documents that have been stored on home computers or at work.
The two devices run under the Android 3.2 Honeycomb operating system and pack a series of business capabilities, including the Quickoffice HD app for document editing and creation, Citrix GoToMeeting, or Google Talk for video conferencing.
The specs list of the two devices also includes 10.1-inch and 8.2-inch high-definition In-Plane Switching (IPS) displays, Mobile Hotspot Capability on the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network, 5-megapixel rear-facing HD photo snappers with autofocus and LED flash and support for full HD video recording, and 1.3-megapixel HD front-facing cameras for video calling.
The features list of the two also includes:
- Dijit app allows DROID XYBOARD tablets to double as a universal remote control with an electronic programming guide for TVs, Blu-ray Disc players, digital video records (DVR), and most other consumer electronics
- Support for Google Mobile Services including Gmail, YouTube, Google Talk, Google Search, Google Maps and access to millions of books from Google Books
- Supports a wide array of separately purchased accessories including an HD station for connecting to speakers and a larger screen, an HD dock to send content via HDMI out to HDTVs and home theater speaker systems and a stylish portfolio with Bluetooth-enabled keyboard and mouse
Both the DROID XYBOARD 8.2 and DROID XYBOARD 10.1 will be released on Verizon’s network before the end of December with various amounts of internal memory for users to take advantage of.
DROID XYBOARD 8.2 will include 16GB and 32GB of internal memory, priced at $429.99 (320 Euros) and $529.99 (395 Euros), respectively, with the signing of a two-year contract with the wireless carrier.
