From the 'oldies but goldies' series, one of the first Android smartphones launched on the market, the HTC Tattoo, has just joined the CyanogenMod 7 club.
Straight from the CyanogenMod team comes a new port that allows HTC Tattoo users to taste some Gingerbread bits.
The new CM7 ROM has all the features working and offers users some extra touches that will even allow them to undervolt or overclock the device.
The main features of the current CM7 ROM for HTC Tattoo include:
- Overclocked kernel;
- Undervolted kernel;
- Governor available at cyanogen menu. No need for SetCPU, configuration is simple now;
- Last codes from CyanogenMod Gingerbread;
- Multilanguage;
- You can take pictures (No preview working. The rest works 100% );
- SD can be used as a boot pen drive;
- FM Radio works.
Although the ROM has a few known issues such as the camera preview not working, the developers have stated that they will continue to work on the build to correct these problems, as well as others that might be discovered.
For those out of the loop, the HTC Tattoo is among the first Android devices available on the market and it was launched back in September 2009.
Like other entry-level smartphones, the Tattoo features a small 2.8-inch TFT resistive touchscreen with 65K colors support and 240 x 320 pixels resolution.
The device is powered by a 528 MHz ARM 11 processor with an Adreno 200 GPU and runs on Android 1.6 out-of-the-box. One of the first versions of HTC's Sense UI was also included over the operating system.
HTC Tattoo is HSDPA and WiFi-enabled and sports an average 3-megapixel camera with video recording capabilities (CIF@15fps).
It also packs 256 MB RAM and 512 ROM, as well as microSD card slot for memory expansion.
